Well, I made it to Thursday. I'm making it work...and continuing to annoythose around me by asking them to take pictures of me. Or, I use the self timer.
Either way - Here's a look at Thursday.
Our morning began with some shrieking on the monitor. I could tell it
was not Max's usual cry. So I busted in there quick, to him telling me
"I peed in the bed". He was super upset so I tried not to make a big deal of it.
We changed his clothes quick and Rob stripped the bed. He honestly hasn't
done that in almost nine months....so I'm proud of us for rallying quick.
We got Max set up with breakfast and I headed downstairs
to put the sheets in. Rob said he would stop back by the house
to throw them in the dryer in an hour or so. There are so many
instances when I'm glad his job profession allows him to drive
around town. Today is definitely one of them.
I can hear Rob and Max chattering downstairs. So, I continue
on with getting dressed, straightening my bangs, and making the
bed. Rob leaves on the dot at 6:40. This happens every day.
As I make my way downstairs - I see Max's feet dangling
off the chair. Two things strike me. He definitely doesn't have
a boo-boo on the top of his foot, so he suckered Rob into some
band-aids last night. And, how long his legs are getting. I think
it will be interesting to see his official height next week at
his well check appointment.
I've been using essential oils on Max off and on for
about a year and half. Lately I've been slathering some on
Max before we leave in the morning. Today I choose
a calming toddler blend. I'm hoping this helps him
stay happy and tantrum free throughout the day.
We head out the door to the car about 7:40. I drop him off
with relatively no drama and make my way to work. The
animal cleaning is mostly done when I get there. So, I
take out the trash, replenish the hay, and steam clean a carpet
that got pooped on by a penguin yesterday.
Since we finished so quick this morning, we have some
time to hang out in the office. Our ZooKid crew right now
consists of Emily, David, and Brittany. They are our
seasonals. It's nice to have them back to help with all the
summer prep. My full time teaching partner is named Kat
(she's directly behind me in the photo).
I helped check all the kids in this morning. It's a small
class so I head back to the office and work on tweaking summer
newsletters and pick up cards.
I join back up with the class for their walk through
Heart of Africa. Each teacher is able to hold hands with the
ZooKids and it makes is so much easier than pulling a rope.
On days like this - I miss the slowness of winter. I miss there
only being 10 people on grounds (as opposed to the 70 school
groups we have today).
It's finally time for lunch! It's a quick lunch today - because
we are running low on groceries. Lean Cuisine (Sesame
chicken) to the rescue.
I finish lunch up quick - and head back to my office
for my "Real Appeal" session. This is a program the Zoo's
insurance is sponsoring for weight loss. Both Rob and I have
participating for three weeks now. We are calculating our calorie
sweet spot and tracking our food. It's not that fun. It also
includes a weekly group session with a coach. Mine is Thursday
at 1:00.
After my session ends, all of us start prepping the Super Hero
lesson for summer. This includes cutting out Super Hero capes.
260 of them.
I hurry home from work because we are dropping Rob's
car off (he was in an accident the weekend of Max's birthday)
at a body shop. The traffic on 270 is a nightmare. It takes us almost
an hour to get up to Sunbury Road. I'm reminded why I love
living in Powell and so close to work. But, I'm grateful that the
guy who is doing the work seems super nice and it will get
done quick.
The drive as well as my tiny lunch make me so hungry
in the six o'clock hour. After we drop off the car - I demand that we eat.
Max requests Wendy's (100% so he can get a toy).
We are super close to Auntie Stacy's house - so we decide
to let Max burn off some energy at the park by her house.
We start off at the park across the street and Max quickly
lets us know that he wants to go to a different park.
Thankfully its close and so we go. Stacy goes with us.
He loves her so much. Aunties are really such a wonderful gift.
He goes down this twisty slide and demands that we all
pretend to be "snappy" crocodiles each time. This means we
stand around the slide and pretend to "snap" our hands like
crocodile jaws...but really we just tickle him as he goes down.
We drop Stacy back off and drive home. We stop at an ATM
so I can drop off some checks and get our cash for my adventure
at the flea market tomorrow. I thought Max might fall asleep -but
he is WIDE awake. Once home - we go upstairs - quick bath for
Max, while I put the new fire truck sheets (his request) back on
his bed.
He's super into crocodiles right now (as evidenced by
his towel). We dry off - get jammies on, read two books
and lights off. He is really into this John Deer book that
glows in the dark lately....so I let him have that in the bed
with him when I leave. He only calls me back one time
before settling in for the night.
In the daylight hours that are left - I take a quick lap around
my flower beds...everything looks good. The zinnia seeds are
coming up and the fox glove is blooming! While doing this,
I realize that I forgot to get some lesson materials ready for
Zoo Tots (a different class that I'm involved with). I drive
back to the Zoo and take care of it.
Once home - I blog and chat with Rob about River Monsters!
Bring on Friday :)
