Welcome to Wednesday! I'm beginning to find a rhythm to my week and
just what to document. I'm realizing that I can't capture every moment -
and that's okay. I think ten years (shoot, even a year from now) it will be
so interesting to have the pictures I did take, that I'm not going to fret.
Here's a look at what we were up to:
Wednesday morning began for me when Pecan (our cat) knocked something
off the counter in the bathroom and it made a loud crashing sound.
This in turn woke Max up...but he was willing to come into bed
with me (and more or less roll around) for 15 minutes before
I conceded to going downstairs.
I got Octonauts set up on the I-pad and headed upstairs to
make the bed (I don't know why...but this is so important to me) -
and get dressed.
Same old blue Zoo shirt for the day. I actually really like
that I don't have to have a lot of "professional" clothes.
And, I can put zero thought into what I'm wearing for the day.
I did put some thought into my hair (though I didn't get a photo).
I usually have to re-straighten my bangs and then I used the curling
wand to give some loose waves.
When I'm finished curling my hair - Max wants to play with
his "money". He dumps his piggy bank on the floor and we
proceed to sort through it and line it all up on the floor. I reassure
him that Pecan will leave it alone during the day.
He lets me help him with his shoes and we are out the door
to Jessi's house! He's less thrilled to go today - but does
push me out the door. I always say a little prayer for him
on the way to work.
I drive through downtown Powell (like always) and decide
I have enough time to hit Starbucks. I order an iced grande
skinny vanilla latte and a breakfast sandwich.
Class begins at 9:00 and we have legos out at one of
our centers.
The class is small today and the kids are totally manageable.
Since we are heading into our busy summer season - we have
more than enough seasonals to help in the classroom. So, I head back
into the office and get some computer work done at my desk. We are
in the throes of planning our summer sessions. Kat and I talk about
all the work that still needs to get done and I definitely start stressing.
I decide to join the class for their afternoon walk to the Heart
of Africa. I love that my job allows me to get fresh air
nearly everyday. Today the black backed jackals are in the
watering hole.
The afternoon is a total blur - we have our staff meeting at 12:30.
It goes a really long time because we are still decompressing
from our visioning meeting on Monday. I also have a "touch base"
meeting with my direct supervisor after our staff meeting.
At 3:30 - another co-worker ends up convincing me be
part of the new Zoo commercial shoot happening right outside
our building. I usually like this kind of thing - but I'm not in the
mood today. They make me tuck in my shirt and take off my
pullover. I also get make up and hair touch up (I guess my hair
was too big). And then we have to shoot the line "ask jungle jack"
probably 20 times because I can't manage to look at the camera.
I'm oddly grateful I have no pictures of this.
I leave half an hour early to go get my nails fixed. Thank goodness.
Once home - Max is eager to show me his train tracks
and how the trains go over the cliff.
We go outside while Rob finishes dinner prep. We bounce
around the yard playing monster, playing hide and seek,
watering all the plants, spinning him, and blowing bubbles.
We have dinner at our big table on the deck. Max
finishes his turkey, cheese, and pineapple. He does mostly
because we tell him he can have a popsicle afterward.
He always wants us to have a popsicle too. Rob agrees
to eat one with him. I go upstairs to change my clothes
and get ready for supper club.
I leave our house around 6:40 for supper club with my
girlfriends. Tonight we are meeting at "The Crest" in
Clintonville. My phone battery dies on the way there
and I freak out about the directions I no longer have.
But, I somehow make it and find street parking.
The meal was delicious! I had a bison burger with truffle
fries. SO good. I also had a sidecar cocktail ...also yummy!
The six of us agree that walking to the dairy queen a couple
blocks away is a good idea too.....so I finish off the night
with a small reese peanute butter cup blizzard.
Again - the pictures from the evening are sparse because of
my phone battery issues. But, thankfully my friend Lynn
captured my delicious meal on her phone :)
By the time I got home - Max was in bed for the night (it was
9:45 when I got home). Rob said it was an easy bedtime.
We head up to bed not long after I get home.
Thanks for reading :)
