Something pretty cool happened this weekend....
we got a babysitter for Max! Like, a real babysitter -
which I equate to being the kind you have to pay.
This was kind of monumental
because in his three years of existence, Max has
only ever hung out with family members when
Papa Rob and I have adult commitments :)
This weekend - the occasion was a wedding!
I just love weddings! I love any excuse to dress up,
see my Mister get dressed up, eat food that someone
else prepared, and dance the electric slide.
(although - it's been awhile since I heard the
electric slide - the last few weddings we've been
to they played "the wobble". And true story I watched
several you tube videos to learn that one). Anyway -
when we RSVP'd to the wedding - it occurred to me
that it would be happening on a Saturday that my parents
and sister would be out of town. I quickly turned to my co-worker,
named David. David runs one of our early childhood
programs at the Zoo and has previous babysitting
experience and is generally just really great with kids.
So, we hyped up how cool David was -
and even invited him over for a bit on Friday...and
it all went so well! Papa Rob and I left our
house (looking mighty fine) and headed to the Zoo!
The wedding was for a co-worker of Rob's....and
the ceremony and reception were both being held
at the Africa event center. The zebras walked
out during the ceremony...and I'm pretty sure this giraffe
photo bombed the majority of their pictures :)
I was super nervous about how Max would
do with another adult ...and that adult putting
him to bed...but I needn't have worried.
David did an awesome job of texting us
and snapchatting us hilarious pictures!
How awesome is that? It was so reassuring to see the two of
them having a grand time! I think it also helped that David
was a somewhat familiar face that Max has seen now
A LOT at the Zoo and when Max comes to his program
on grounds. Meanwhile, at the Zoo - Papa Rob
and I were having a grand time! We got to see
and sit with old friends. Drink some adult beverages!
And our friend Vincent was a groomsman!
We've also been enjoying
getting to know his girlfriend Amber.
I don't know that we will have a babysitter
all the time (because man - the babysitting rate
has gone up a bit since my day)...but I was
happy to hear that Max was no trouble and
"went to bed easy" - what the what?
Oh....and I got to hold this adorable baby
clouded leopard. Don't we look cute together?!
Zoo Weddings are the BEST :)
Babysitters are pretty great too. :)
xoxo
