A week in the Life - Tuesday recap

Today was busy.  It was a day full of late day care drop offs and long classroom
hours. A day for an easy crockpot dinner and iPad time. I took fewer photos (and
definitely felt awkward asking those I work with to assist me with them) - but overall
a good representation of our day.

Here's our Tuesday.
Max woke up around 6:15 and was insistent that he
wanted to go downstairs.  With a lot of pleading and
reminding that his "bug light" had not gone off - he eventually
went back to sleep as we rocked together in the chair. The rocking
chair is so funny to me because it was one of those things that I didn't
think we would need in his nursery and it's actually probably the most
used thing in there.  Even after transitioning to his big boy bed - the
rocker still stays. We finally come downstairs and he asks for
fruit loops and wants to pour his own milk. I set him up with Octonauts
on the iPad and head back upstairs to shower.

A look into our bathroom reveals tile that I have become accustomed
to even though I don't really like it. Along with all of the toys from
last night's bath.  I weave my way around them - and get my hot shower.
I decide in the shower to actually straighten my hair - which is definitely
a commitment. I manage to do this - only because I'm doing a later drop
off today at day care (because our day care person has some personal things
to take care of).
With the extra time, I also manage to get dinner in the crock pot.
Max wants to help but I don't really want him touching frozen chicken -
so we compromise with him dumping the water in for me.
We leave our house around 8:40 to head to Trader Joes. Max
is out of vitamins and I just want to be out of the house....so
it seems like a good solution.  He wanted to do the car seat buckles
"all by myself" - to the point where he told me to go away. This is
annoying and time consuming all at once.
At Trader Joes he is elated to find they have a small cart
for him to push. We gather up the essentials ....mostly just
killing time. By the time we have checked out - we get the text
to head to Jessi's house.

Max always wants to race me to the door at Jessi's house.
Today he was super pumped because she is going to take
them swimming.  I managed to remember to pack the Paw
Patrol swim suit (his request) and Puddle Jumper. He is the first
one there and strips down almost immediately to put his suit on.
I get to work around 10:00 - they are just finishing up some
carpet time.  The Zoo Kids eat snack and then it's time for
animal visitor.  Our topic this week is flightless feathered
friends - so my co-worker brings "Chovie" the penguin
for animal visitor. The kids are pretty enthralled.
We make our way to the shuttle for walk - we are
walking through Africa today and hoping to see the ostriches
(which we do!)

While on walk - I get a text from Jessi - lots of smiling faces
at the pool. I personally think she's a saint for taking that many
kids swimming.
After lunch - it's round two for class.  Our afternoon group
is a small one. They are playing with sand in the sensory table -
it's going everywhere.  I remind them no less than ten times
that the only rule of the sand bin is "to keep the sand in".
We tram it up to Heart of Africa again - and the pride of
lions is super active!  All of the cubs are growing up and adorable!
(You can see the female lioness in the background).
It's actually really kind of cold up there and I'm wearing my hood
....I'm also worried that Max was cold all day because I let him
go to school in shorts. What is with this May weather?

Class ends - I go home - and I'm happy to have started the crock pot.
Max immediately invites me into his new fort - and shows me how
far back it goes.  I'm constantly amazed at the stuff Rob builds for him!
Meanwhile - Rob is shredding the chicken. e also warms the mashed potatoes and
gravy in the microwave. Max requests an orange as his fruit for the
evening....so I cut that up and help get his plate ready. He (mostly under force)
has a few bites of chicken, all of the orange, almost all his carrots, the whole
glass of milk, and a few Cheetos :)
He wants to go outside after dinner (with Mama) and gets
frustrated when I tell him I'm cleaning up the kitchen. He
plays with Rob a bit and I'm finally ready. We play at the sand
table, dump water on lots of the plants (from his squirt bottle), he
hits the tee ball around, and we swing. I love being outside with him.

We go in around 7PM - he napped later today (probably because
the swimming made him tired) - so we agree to play trains a bit
longer. He loses his mind when I tell him he needs to clean them up.
He cries on the stairs for about 10 minutes. He HATES having
anything he built (fort, train, or otherwise) deconstructed. If it were
up to him - our house would be a museum for all his crap.
We finally make it upstairs. Read some books and Rob
draws the bath for him. He plays with the tubes again on the wall....
but he loves to dump water into all these random cups.
Then he will ask to take our order. He wavers between offering
me apple juice, diet coke, milk, and coffee. It cracks me up.
I wrap him up in his Lightening McQueen towel, get on jammies,
and read a few more stories. Tonight I laugh because I bought him new
underwear that was size 4T. According to the package - his weight would
put him in this size. However, they were huge on him.  He pulled them
up so high they covered his belly button and we cracked up.

The rest of our evening will consist of texting with Rob's mom
about her summer return dates, looking at beach houses on VRBO,
maybe an episode of the Mindy Project, and Rob channel surfing
between the DIY network and the Cav's game.

What a Tuesday :)
