Week in the Life - Sunday recap

Feeling super grateful to have made it to Sunday.
Sunday will mark the end of my personal documentation period.
I'm planning to start collecting the pictures I feel best tell our
story and add them to an album sometime this week.

Here's a look at Sunday:

I got to sleep in a little later because Rob got up with Max.
And, while I could certainly still hear them quite a bit...it does
make all the difference to just be able to lay around a bit longer
in my bed. They eventually come up about 9:15 and Max crawls up
on the bed. I ask if he got a donut for me and he says "no". I ask him
if he will and says "yes". So, him and Rob leave for the donut shop.
I use the time while they are away to shower and clean up
a bit in the kitchen.  There are almost always dishes in the sink.
And messes on the tables. It looks like this morning Max was
all about the stickers, tape, and coloring.
When they get back, they leave the donuts inside, and Max
and Rob head out to swing.  As soon as he sees me, Max
wants me to push him in the swing.
We do this for a short bit then I tell him we need to go on some
errands.  He is a little reluctant at first but brightens up with
the promise of helping me mail the last thank you note at the
post office. (I was waiting on one more address).
As we arrive at the post office, I'm struck by all the beautiful
sunshine! I'm so happy to see it!
I'm also happy to be wearing shorts and sandals...bring on summer!
After the post office, we head over to Target (we probably go
there once a day on the weekend). I'm looking for some work
out pants and tops for my mom for her upcoming birthday.
We leave with almost nothing (no trains, toys, or even
icee's)! This must be a record!
We have one more errand and it's picking up the cake for
Auntie Stacy's birthday at Golden Delight Bakery. Max
was being so good during all these errands.  His favorite
question to ask is "it's going to be a long ride"?  We purchase
a small strawberry delight cake for later.  We run it home to
Rob so he can refrigerate it.  Then, we are off to Wendy's (again).
After Wendy's I'm determined to stay outside in the
sunshine!  We drive to a new park in Westerville. It's so much
fun!  They have lots of big slides, climbing structures,
bridges, and more!  Max is loving it!

By the time we leave the park, I know that Max will likely
fall asleep in the car. Rather than go all the way home, I bring
him to Stacy's (which she said was okay). I try to put him
in the pack and play and he wakes up. So, we end up watching
the start of Ratatouille (because Stacy DVR'd it for him).
But, Stacy and I decide we want to go to Trader Joes to see
if they have peony bunches (they don't). So, we end up at
another new to us park.
By the time we arrive back at her house, Mims and Grandpa
are there. Mims brought some new trucks with her...and
we try them out on Stacy's driveway. We also draw side walk
chalk roads.

Before long Papa Rob arrives too!  We make a quick trip
over to pick up his car which has a totally new bumper.
It looks great and I'm so grateful to have this behind us.
We end up meeting Max, Stacy, Mims, and Grandpa at
a restaurant near Easton called "Chuys".
We are celebrating Auntie Stacy's 32nd birthday!  We thought
there would be a long wait...but we get right in!
 Cheers to Auntie Stacy!
Once we finish up our meal (with a bonus trip to Whole
Food to look for peonies) - we go back to Stacy's!
We put the candles on the cake and sing to her!  Max loves
to help blow out the candles and open all the presents.
It's still early, so we head back over to the park.  Grandpa
Tim hits golf balls and Max retrieves them!
Penny and Stacy, and Mims all like to gather the golf balls.
We stay until about 8:00 and then walk back to Stacy's.
Max gets completely naked upon entering her house and
declares it bath time for himself. I leave quickly and he
doesn't seem to be bothered by my leaving.

On the way home I'm able to talk to my friend Candice
in Oregon and we chat for over an hour!

I check on all my plants (to see if the sunshine did them good)
and clean up a bit around the house. Start my last load of
laundry (though none of it is put away) and head upstairs
for an early bedtime!

Thanks for hanging in with me during this week! :)

Week in the Life - Saturday recap

I'm starting to lose steam on taking photos and thinking about
taking photos.  But, I did manage to capture a pretty decent
amount of our Saturday.

Take a look:

This Saturday, Max slept till almost 7:30.  Amazing.
But, it still required my favorite instant coffee
from Trader Joes.
I enjoy my coffee while Max watches a show. Later,
when it becomes clear that we are not going to the
donut shop (as I had suggested) - I make myself eggs
in the microwave.
Max says, "mommy, I want to play". So, we head down
to the family rom. He's a little busy body this morning.
We play post man and deliver letters.
We play legos - and I'm impressed with how creative he's
getting with building different structures and cars.  He's
also more than willing to share with me...which is a
welcomed surprise.
I spill some coffee and we clean it up together.
We also shoo Pecan away from all the toys...so she
ends up on the window sill.
Max watches an episode of Paw Patrol and I finish up
writing thank you notes from his birthday party. This
has been on my to do list forever and it feels good to
cross this item off.
Rob gets up around 9:20 and watches the end of the
episode with Max. We discuss me taking Max swimming.
This is met with lots of excitement from Max.
Before leaving, I load up the diffuser with the allergy
combo for Rob. He agrees to clean the bathroom and
grocery shop while we are gone.  I know he's disappointed
that he can't work on the shed because we are going on
day number five of rain. Boo.
I'm under the impression the pool opens at 10:00 so
Max and I head to the Post Office to get his cards in
the mail.  He opens up the slot and puts them all in for me!
Upon trying to buy stamps - I realize I left my wallet
at home, so we go home to get it.

I'm going to interrupt this by telling you about some pictures
I didn't take (in an effort to keep this real). We got the pool
about 10:30.  The lady at the desk tells us it doesn't open
until 1:00. As you can imagine, Max is not pleased.
We are allowed to play on the indoor play structure while
I come up with a plan. This goes well until it doesn't.
Every time Max goes down the slide, he can see the pool.
He keeps asking when it will open. He starts to have a tantrum.
I carry him out to the car. This royally pisses him off. He cries
and cries and basically it's like his life is over. To the point where
he tries to take his car seat belt off and is sort of successful.
I pull into a parking lot - take him out of the car seat. Try to have
a rational conversation which is laughable. He is wearing no shoes.
It's raining. It's terrible. So, I put us both in the car until he calms
down.  It takes about five more minutes but he finally calms down.
We each apologize and he gets happily back into his car seat
(that he was refusing earlier). We kill some more time at Target -
munching on Chex Mix.

About 12:15 we roll up to Auntie Stacy's and pick her up for
lunch.  Max requests the "nuggie store" which is Wendy's.
We bring the lunch home to Stacy's. Penny (her dog) is super
excited to see us!  We eat lunch and bribe Max with
Hershey kisses to eat more nuggets :)
After lunch, we play hide and seek (in which Max
hides mostly in the same spot with his feet sticking out).
We accompany Stacy to Giant Eagle to get the ingredients
for Taco dip.  And, we pick up her prescription at CVS.
I honestly can't tell you how much I love hanging out
with Stacy.  She is so great with Max. And Max loooves
her.  She lets Max help give Penny some treats.

Once we get home - Max wants to "Ring Around the Rosie"
and bounce on the exercise ball before I finally convince him
to leave. He's become quite the negotiator lately. Always asking
for one more time. Or two more times. It's exhausting.

We get gas on the way home.  I realize I forgot my purse
at Stacy's house. We turn around and go back for it.
It doesn't take Max long before he is passed out.  This is
really the only way to get him to nap lately.  I tend to plan
out our day so that he will fall asleep in the car and I can
transfer him to his bed.  I know it's not ideal but he definitely
still needs a nap. What's even more irritating is that he totally
still naps at daycare. And apparently doesn't even fight it.

Rob wakes Max up around 4:05.  I was asleep on the couch.
They come down and start to watch some TV.
I leave to run some errands and pick up dinner.
We get BiBiBop takeout - rice bowls. Max has turkey,
pineapple, and applesauce. After dinner, we decide to head
to the park for some family time. It's so nice to be together.
So often it's just one of us with Max while the other
stays back to work on something at home or run a separate
errand. Otherwise, how does our household stay afloat?
If you have suggestions, please chime in :)
We brought a towel for the slides (which was a good call
because everything was soaked).  I'm trying to get better
about not falling back on the TV so much. Max does really
like to be outside....and it helps him burn off that never
ending energy - so really it's a win win.
Once we arrive home, its a blur of bath, bedtime
stories, more laundry, wrapping Stacy's birthday
gifts, and sorting out all the crap in our front hallway.

This was a very normal, busy Saturday for the Haucks.
Sunday's almost here!

Week in the Life - Friday recap

Oh, Friday, I'm glad you're here. I've been looking forward to this
day for a long time!

Here's a look:

I woke up about 6:45 when Max shouts from his room that he's ready
to get up. Once, he's set up in the kitchen with some miniature donuts,
I rush upstairs to get a quick shower. I usually only wash my hair maybe
two or three times a week...so that's why my bangs are pinned back.

I'm rushing around this morning in anticipation of the
Springfield Flea Market.  My plan is to try and drop Max
off a wee bit earlier so I can get on the road sooner. I decide
on some leggings, loose tee, and jean jacket (because the morning
is still going to be on the cool side).
I do manage to convince Max to move a little quicker today.
I drop off at Jessi's but forget the diaper bag - so I turn around
quick to drop it off (again). I decide to stop at McDonald's for a
large diet coke in a Styrofoam cup. Totally worth it.
I'm on the road to Springfield - it takes me about an hour.
But the traffic once off the high way is a nightmare. I can't
go my usual way through the back gate - so I'm a little lost.
I wind around and finally buy my entrance ticket. Hooray!
One of my favorite parts about the flea market is the food.
My lovely mother has already stopped and got me
a breakfast sandwich and coffee. Bless her.
My first purchase is a Mexican blanket. I've been searching
and so has my mom for what seems like ever.  I finally
just decide to buy one for $10.

I wander the aisles with my mom...she is searching for
Pyrex.  I'm not really "looking" for anything. And I mostly
spend my money on flowers and vegetables.

I just love the flowers. Geraniums. Petunias. Ferns.
Lantanas. Verbenas. Hostas.

Lunch time.  We finally meet up with dad.  He does
his own thing...mostly looking for records and beer signs.
We all get walking tacos for lunch from Oliver's food truck.
So delish.  I finish it quick.

Afternoon snacks now.  Soft pretzels (even though
dad tries to convince me they will be out of them).
The rest of the afternoon goes by quick!
I'm snap chatting our whole adventure! :)
By about 4:45 I need to hit the road.
My car is loaded up with all my goodies...
as evidenced by my plants in the front seat!

It takes me forever to get out of the parking lot (20 minutes!)
On the way home, I call Rob and we decide to get Pei Wei
take out. Honey Seared Chicken for him. Teryaki Chicken and
brown rice for me. Max eats mac and cheese, grapes, and
applesauce at home.
The rest of my evening consists of text messages with
my sister and sister-in-law Courtney. Stacy and I make
plans to meet up on Saturday. I also decide to go to bed
early (for me) - at 9:30!
I take a quick shower, throw my hair in a braid, and
settle in for the night.

Looking forward to a busy Saturday.
