While the calendar tells me it’s September 1st…
I
still have a lot to tell you about things
that happened in late August! The first – Nature walks with
Max.
The concept of a nature walk is not new around here…
but Max has recently
been into finding things in
nature to take pictures of (which is kind of adorable).
Usually, we just
stroll around the neighborhood and see what strikes our fancy. Like….
Really tall sunflowers…
Crunchy leaves…
and teeny, tiny, acorns!
Or, if you’re at Mim’s house (and she lets you walk/ride around
in your jams) –
You might find –
….Fountains in the neighbor’s yard
….Walnuts
and sometimes...she let's Penny come!
The second thing – Max started soccer.
Papa Rob and I knew we wanted to make
more of
an effort to get him involved in
social things (since we are skipping preschool
this year) –
and this was our first attempt.
I enrolled him
in Soccer Shots – which takes place at the church
right
next to the Zoo. Max is in the 2-3 year
old class
and I think he’s probably the oldest.
There are only four kids so he gets lots of attention
and a chance to do the activities many times.
He seemed to really
enjoy kicking over the cones,
squashing the ball (stopping it with your foot),
and
shooting it into the goal. It’s an eight week class….
so we shall see how his
progress continues.
There are no games…they are just working
on basic skills at
this level – and a value sentiment (last week’s was team work).
The final thing – and probably most fun for Max-
was the Saint Joan of Arc
festival!
This is the church we attend
and
their yearly festival was last weekend.
We went two nights in a row (much to Max’s delight).
The festival did not disappoint –
with rides,
a giant slide, fun house, and games
where you can win candy! Max found a new
candy
he loves – Smarties and quickly shoved as many as possible into his
pockets.
The second night Titi came with us!
Max got his face painted (he picked a rainbow!),
played some new games (the darts game nearly
made me lose my mind), and picked out a
fan as a prize (which ripped before we had
even left the church parking lot).
Even though summer has ended - we are just
getting started with the fun around here.
Happy Thursday!
