It's Thanksgiving week!!
And nothing says happy turkey day, like a handprint turkey
made by our little budding artist Mr. Max! I had been looking forward to having a little art
time with Max since... pretty much the day he was born :) If there is one thing
that Max has taught me though since that day (when I had a very unplanned c-section), it's that I'm not in charge and things don't always go as planned. So, while I had high hopes of popping out about
15 Thanksgiving handprint turkeys...Max had other ideas.
I thought it would be best to strip him down so the paint wouldn't stain any of his Thanksgiving threads. So - here he is - happy as a clam with his old friend the wipe bag.
I squirted out some contraband paint that I took from work (all for the love of turkeys). At this point I thought we would paint each of Max's fingers a different color. Then Max said, "get real Mom". So - we opted for just the brown paint. It should be noted that I also gave him a paintbrush to distract him while we painted on his left hand. At first the paint brush did distract him and then he was all "there is something on my left hand and it won't get off!!!" And he started clenching his fingers into a fist (which is clearly not the shape of a turkey!) - and paint would squirt out between his fingers.
I shoved the pre-cut paper on the tray and Rob kind of (forcefully) placed his hand down and I tried to spread out his fingers. Then, we would reload for the next turkey.
He was pretty much done with our Thanksgiving crafting after about six turkeys. So, these prints are limited edition. :) While the craft didn't exactly go as planned - they did turn out pretty cute!
I added a beak, and the red waddle when they were all finished. Mama and mini crafting..it doesn't get much better than that!
XoXo
