10 Things Right Now

1.)  Max just got back from another unscheduled doctor's appointment :(  Here's the dish - we started pureed foods last week and his bowl movements have been a little more..well...solid and small (if you get my drift).  Also, they are more frequent and today they were like every hour and a half.  This caused a pretty terrible diaper rash to set in pretty quick.  So much so, that Rob called me at work to tell me that his little bum was bleeding!!  We both kind of freaked and went immediately to the doctor when I got home.  The doctor was not phased at all by this diaper rash - in fact, he went so far as to say "I don't even see it"..uh, hello, open up his little crack - it's the red and irritated skin.  I kind of wanted to punch him in the face and scream, "you have a medical degree?".  Needless to say, I reigned it in.  He gave us the low down on some diaper creme/medication to hopefully clear it up and it's actually an over the counter thing (found near jock itch cream...gross).  We picked some up and went on our merry way - fingers crossed it works. Also - Max is 19 pounds.  Bonus, the doctor also looked at his ears and they are relatively clean despite the fact that he is still sniffly.

2.)  Halloween is a week away!!!  Max is sporting his Halloween wardrobe like a boss.  Onesies at night and cute outfits during the day.  Need proof? See the cuteness below.  Also, he has a "Halloween party" at school on Friday.  This excites me to no end.

3.)  I'm constantly obsessing over what toys he needs to aid in his mental development (Christmas is coming you know...) and stressing out over everything - meanwhile Mr.Max has discovered his feet and decided they are the coolest thing ever.  Who needs toys when you have ten toes?

4.)  Rob and I have been talking about a donut date for months (alright - it was really just me talking about it...but...I digress).  Saturday we made this happen as that sweet husband of mine took me to Krispy Kreme.  It did not disappoint. Then, way later when Max had gone to bed - we watched Harry Potter (the part where Ron says, "eww...troll boogies" is so funny when Rob does it).

5.)  It snowed today.  No joke.  October 23 - flurries were a fallin'.  Turns out hauling a baby around in the snow is not fun.  You're shocked I'm sure.  Thank goodness for generous friends who gave us a car seat sleeping bag (that's what I like to call it).  It fits in our car seat with all the safety belts and such still in place but zips Max up all nice and cozy and then I don't have to pile on like 15 blankets in the morning.

6.) Babies in hats are adorable. Babies in elephant hats - even more so.
Max should probably be a baby model.

7.)  I had grand intentions of making Max's first Halloween costume.  I really did.  I had "pinned" some great ideas and then, you know what?  I decided that I like sleep and actually spending time with Max more.  So, I let go.  For those of you that know me - it was kind of hard to do.  It sort of felt like a mom fail. But...then an elephant costume showed up at our door (thanks Brooklyn!) - and we put it on and Max grinned from ear to ear and I was SOLD!

8.)  I've really weeded out a lot of TV shows that I used to watch (see above where family time and sleep become more important)...but the the shows I'm committed to are 1.) The Mindy Project 2.)  Scandal 3.) Parenthood.  Are you watching these?  You should be.

9.)  Max has become an expert roller.  Like, you might turn your back for a second and he has rolled all the way across the carpet.  This makes it hard for him to stay on his "infant play mat".  So, my friend Candice picked up a cute new BIGGER play mat for us at IKEA! He LOVES it...and so do we.
(new mat not pictured above but cute baby is!)

10.)  A new hoodie/fleece coat for Max also showed up on our doorstep today from Auntie Kristen in Oregon!  I tore open the box (i LOVE getting mail) and just about died from cuteness overload.  The coat could not be more perfect for Max - it is grey fleece with a hood and has little foxes, trees, and stars sewn on a little panel across the front and back.  It's probably the cutest thing he owns.  I love it so much (seriously, Rob asked if I was going to sleep with it tonight).
I feel a photo shoot coming on...

If you've read this whole list...congrats!  I apologize for the randomness of it - but I just want to remember all the little things going on in our life right now.
XoXo
