Happy Easter!!

Do you ever have like 23 things on your to do list but
it all feels so overwhelming that you deliberately
waste time doing other stuff that probably
doesn't need to happen?  Nope? Me neither.
But.....here's an Easter post about two
weeks late because I'm avoiding
all of the other things that need to be done.
Also, I'm going to go above and beyond
the blogger call of duty and in lieu of adorable
Easter photos (all of which I loved from other families)
and post a few mediocre family Easter photos with
some details I remember from the weekend.
Our Easter weekend began on Saturday
with Rob and I driving over to Dayton
(Max was already there from his Spring
Break 2017 week-o-fun).   We left almost
immediately for an egg hunt at Forest Field
Park again.  In our rush to leave the house we left
his jacket behind..#parentfail....so Grandpa and Papa Rob
left to retrieve it and barely made it back
to see Max reluctantly pick up a few green
eggs.  He maintained that he already
had eggs at home..and honestly I think the
hyped up "competition" part of it was
stressing him out.

We were trying to kill some time
before this food truck rally at Home Depot....
so we went off to one of my favorite spots
in Dayton (especially in the spring!!)
Cox Arboretum....because
#plantladyforlife and it did not
disappoint...Max had fun counting
and point out turtles in the pond,
climbing the rocks, pointing out the
new bridge, and running between
the rows of crab apple trees :)

(Still trying to get the perfectly timed
jumping shot of everyone). :)

(Gotta stop and smell those lilacs!!)
Max was literally so excited every time
he spotted a turtle.

He was getting tired of walking...so
he settled for his favorite perch atop Papa Rob. :)
We ate lunch at this food truck rally thing
at the local Home Depot before heading
back home and getting down to the business
of dying Easter Eggs!

Initially, Max let us know he would just
be supervising this egg dying task...
but I knew that wouldn't last long.
As soon as the eggs came out and his
stool got pulled up to the counter...he
was bossing everyone around!

Even at 35 years old ....this tradition
never gets old.  I still LOVE it!!
And I love having all the extra
hard boiled eggs around after :)
Papa Rob is known for coming up with
super weird color patterns on his eggs...
Auntie Stacy left hers in a couple different
colors until she achieved the perfect "mauve"
and Max was definitely the splasher...plopping
the eggs in with reckless abandon. :)
Also - random but helpful tidbit from Mims -
she has kept literally what seems to be every
egg dipper and tool that we've used over the
years...and so we have lots of "equipment"
to dye our eggs with.  The "egg tongs" were
quite helpful for little hands.
The night ended with a trip to the park
and carry out pizza from Marions (yum!).
This worked out well for the Easter Bunny...
who had a lot of work to do! :)

*Somehow* the Easter Bunny
managed to cram too many a lot of
presents into a tiny Paw Patrol Easter
Basket (that Mims was coerced into
purchasing even though Mama gave
a hard no). The bunny hid the basket under
the desk at Mim's house.
(sidenote: Max asked me as he was
falling asleep if the Easter
bunny was a real bunny or pretend?
And I panicked and sort of glossed
over the details of that....)
Max was pleased with his spoils...
a new Paw patrol cup, bath tabs,
bubbles, band aids, a small set of Legos....
and it seemed the Easter Bunny had
a soft spot for books...*ahem*

He did mostly okay at church...except
for telling us 152 times that he was
"ready to go home" (insert eye roll).
So I ended up holding him for the last 20
minutes or so...which wasn't awesome
but it was manageable.

Our Easter Brunch was at the Station House
(which is part of St.Leonard's) -the pros being
someone else preparing the food and cleaning
the mess.  The cons being Mims got real pissed
when we got charged for orange juice and coffee
(which we though were part of the brunch
package)....but I didn't hate one bit of my
bacon, sausage, and omelet creation. :)
In fact, I ate it all.
The above is literally the only picture we got
of everyone in their Easter finest....because
we spent the rest of the day relaxing...eating
jelly beans (okay, that was just me) - and
making up "scavenger hunts" for Max.

Hope you had a Hoppy Happy Easter!
xoxo
p.s. my mom still had a small honey baked
ham for "second brunch" and it was delish
p.p.s. Max wore his new paw patrol jammies
on the ride home....passed out...but woke
up in time to demand more bedtime stories.
p.p.p.s. I forgot to take all the extra
hard boiled eggs (picture real sad Carrie face emoji here).
Alleluia to you and yours!
